A delegation of the EU Global Facility on AML/CFT, led by Team Leader David Hotte and Senior Expert on Justice Victoria Palau was in Mozambique to conduct a scoping mission from 26 October to 2 November 2022.
Organised to respond to the request for technical assistance recently submitted by the Mozambican authorities, the mission started with a meeting with the Technical Multisectorial Group on AML/CFT of Mozambique, composed of representatives from various ministries and institutions, and chaired by the national coordination/Director General of the FIU.
The EU GF team then met with a number of relevant local stakeholders, including the director of the FIU and members of his team.
This mission will ultimately aim to establish a work programme in line with the EU GFT rules of engagement and principles.
The scoping mission was conducted jointly with a representative of the AML/THB Great Horn of Africa project and will be coordinated by the EU Delegation in Maputo.
